Ruby Jaye (Dobbins) Yaste

Ruby Jaye Yaste, age 86, of Pittsfield, IL, passed away Saturday, February 28, 2026 at Hannibal Regional Hospital in Hannibal, MO.  She was born on July 17, 1939 in Adair, IL, to Lonnie Dobbins and Myrtle Thompson.  She married David Yaste on February 14, 1982 and he preceded her in death on February 10, 2002.

Ruby became a homemaker after finishing school and later provided home healthcare in the area.  She liked fishing, crocheting, playing cards, “porch sitting”, going to the farm, and camping.  She enjoyed going out for a boat ride on the Mississippi River and also watching her favorite Nascar driver, Jeff Gordon.  She loved being with her family, was “Mom and Grandma” to many and loved to go to family’s sporting events. Several of her grandsons are musicians and she enjoyed listening to their music and attending their shows.   Ruby was spunky, feisty, and loved to give her opinion.  She will be dearly missed by those that loved her. 

She is survived by; her children, Bryan (Barb) Vaughn, Kevin (Anita) Wilson, Teena (Kenny Sr., dec.) Mellon, Chuck (April) Hoover, Treacy (Brian) Constable, Ruby (Danny) Fesler, and Amber Yaste; grandchildren, Christy, Bryan Jr., Greg, Bryan Michael, Brooklynn, Kevin Jr., Brandon, Charlie, Jessika, Ashton, Kenny, Abby, Ashlyn, Zachary, Skylar, John, Emily, Jonathan, Jacob, Jaylee, Jordyn, and Jaxon; several great grandchildren; sister, Barb Wall; and bonus daughter, Mary Chris Shinkle.

Ruby was preceded in death by; her parents; husband, David Yaste; siblings Lois Harland, Dale VanOrmer, Lyle VanOrmer, Leona Martin, and Betty Brackley; a son in-law, Kenny Mellon Sr.; and step-son, Ronnie Hoover.

A funeral service will be held Wednesday, March 4, 2026 at 5:00 pm at Niebur Funeral Chapel in Barry, IL.  A visitation will be held prior to the service from 3:00-5:00 pm. Cremation rites have been accorded and interment will take place at a later date.
